Most African Countries do not have legislation regarding missing children specifically, but have several laws addressing issues related to missing children including but not limited to children without parental care, child trafficking, child abuse, children in conflict and children on the move.
The African Member States of the Organization of African Unity (OAU), commonly draw mandate from the African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the Child. Other instruments like the United Nations Convention on the Rights and Welfare of the Child (UNCRC) and many others apply too in common legislation and mandate in addition to National Laws.
