Hi I’m The Dorset Police Missing Inspector of the County LPA. Is there anything I can do to help with this? Would you like me to be the Dorset point of contact for any enquiries regarding Dorset missing people? I’m really happy to help where I can
Justin
Thank you Justin. We have dealt with this directly and I will endeavour to produce something that officers can hand out when attending missing person cases.having a point of contact is also very useful.
Hi Charlie! I don’t know how much you were thinking about including re Herbert Protocol forms (there are so many variations!), but might be worth mentioning that in some counties (particularly Kent) the forms are designed to be used for any “at risk” person (and not only for persons living with dementia. In that regard, when we last updated the Kent Police form, I spent quite some time with one of the PolSAs trying to include information that might be important for the search teams to know, if the misper was on the autistic spectrum. We also produced a short story-based film to try and give people an idea of how important a completed form might be…picture being worth a thousand words, and all that! (Kent Police YouTube channel > https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rlhNIHuDa1k).
NB Don’t know if you’re already familiar with this resource (KSAT), but here’s a link in case you’re not>
https://sarstuff.co.uk/ AND https://kstat.org/. Best wishes for this endeavour!
NO NEED TO REPLY (but always happy to help, if I can) !

Hi Phil. Good to hear from you and thanks for your useful comments and links. Yes, I do plan to talk about the Herbert Protocol in a future update to the website, as it is such an important issue. Notwithstanding the number of versions you rightly talk about, the concept of taking preparatory action by recording useful information is an important one in trying to safeguard those vulnerable to going missing.

Hello Stephen
I am so sorry for the slow reply to your enquiry and realise how hard it is when you lose someone in this way. Was your sister reported as a missing person to the police? I cannot make any promises but if you can share any more information with me I will see if there is anything that might be done.
Charlie
Hi
Just wondering do you have any vacancies available
Hello Jackeline
I am afraid that there are no vacancies. I do hope that you are able to pursue your interest in missing elsewhere.
Charlie
Hi Charlie, we’ve recently released a publication that may be useful for researchers, policymakers and practitioners regarding what factors faciliate and hinder inter-agency work during a missing child investigation. It is open access so happy for you to download and store for the library
